Dear Madam,
As President of our society, I thank you for allotting one
day of every year for us as World Mosquito Day. On this happy occasion, I wish
to put forth the following demands on behalf of all the mosquitoes of the world
to all humans, whom we consider as “Blood Relatives”.
1 First we request you to please allot one day of the year
each for our colleagues the Bedbug, the Flea as well as for Ticks and Mites. So
there should be one World Bedbug day, World Ticks and Mites Day and a World
Flea Day. We do not demand the same for the louse because every day you keep
saying “It is a Lousy Day”..
2 Please withdraw all your attempts at controlling our
population. We mosquitoes have been on this earth for >200 million years
while Homo sapiens have come to the earth only about 1 or 2 million years
ago…So ban all mosquito nets, mosquito repellent liquids and ointments, coils
etc.
3. Stop spraying insecticides and oils on water ponds,
which kills our tiny babies. This is equal to feticide in human terms and must
be banned.
4. You thought you could control us with DDT but we not
only survived but became resistant to the chemical. Actually there is a group
among us who think we should inject these chemicals into your own blood. But
being more human than humans, we vetoed the idea.
5. You think you can control us with some fish like
Gambosia. Don’t be foolish. We have modified our proteins so that the fish has
developed a distaste for our larva. If you continue, we can mutate further and
affect the sex life of this poor fish so that they cannot reproduce and become
extinct.
6. Your top scientists are sitting in large labs drawing
huge salaries to find out how to modify our genes to make us sterile! How
ingeniously imbecile!! If you fiddle with our genes, we might become
Frankenstein mosquitoes and wipe out the entire human race.
7. You are angry with us because we suck your blood. But
you exhort your people to donate 300mL of blood every 3 months to Blood Banks.
Each of our females sucks only 0.01mL of blood….and even this suck once or
twice in a short life span of 1 week, so that our babies get adequate protein.
Is this criminal? In fact, you milch cows and buffaloes and take away millions
of liters of milk to feed your children and even adults. You even kill animals
and plants with impunity, cook them, fry them just to feed your stomachs. Is
this not criminal?
8. I request you not to hate us because we carry disease
causing microbes. After all they have accidentally entered our bodies millions
of years ago and have been regularly exploiting us to infect you without our
consent. All your anger and hatred must be directed against the disease causing
viruses, protozoa or nematodes. You humans can not kill them but in stead
launch genocide on innocent vectors like us. Is this fair?
9 I demand that you should call off all the programs on
Mosquito eradication and control from today. Live and let live.
10. I conclude by thanking all your scientists and Control
program designers to have failed in all their attempts to control our
population and in stead trained us how to tackle with such threats.
